Oddworld Inhabitants has today released 1080p gameplay footage from the upcoming platformer-adventure Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty.

The gameplay footage, which shows off the game’s dynamic lighting, organic animation and special effects, is designed to showcase the vast improvements made over the original Abe’s Oddysee, on which New ‘n’ Tasty is based. The trailer also incorporates some of the new music the game features, alongside the explosive new sound design that really brings the world of Mudos to life.

“This really is taking the game above and beyond what we thought would be possible,” said Stewart Gilray, CEO at developer Just Add Water. “We’re so excited to finally show what we’ve been working so hard to produce”.

Released in 1997, Abe’s Oddysee won numerous awards. The ground-up remake, in development at UK studio Just Add Water and creatively directed by Lorne Lanning, expands on the much-loved classic in every way possible. New ‘n’ Tasty is coming soon to PS4, PS3 and PS Vita with PC, Wii U, Mac and Linux versions to follow.

Think you have what it takes to be a Mudokon? Oddworld Inhabitants are searching for fans to provide voices for natives and workers in the forthcoming Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty, the from-the-ground-up re-creation of the classic Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee.

There are over 100 Muds in the game that need voices. Some have already been done by the members of Oddworld and Just Add Water, some will be special Easter Eggs, but there are still some available and waiting for talented fans.

With this search for voices, quality is paramount. As such, Oddworld Inhabitants make no guarantee any submissions will make it into the game. But any that do will not only be immortalized forever in digital form, they could also proudly show off their name in the end credits. Deadline for entries is Friday July 26th, 2013.

Details on how to submit and the requirements are available on the Oddworld website.

Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty is out on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita at the end of 2013, with PlayStation 4, Linux, OS X, Windows and Wii U versions in 2014.

Right now, as it stands, Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty! won't come out on Xbox 360 or Xbox One. Why? Because Microsoft has stuck with its policy of forcing developers to partner with a publisher in order to bring games to their platform. New 'n' Tasty! will launch on PlayStation 3, PS Vita, PlayStation 4, Wii U, PC, Mac and Linux.

Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty, the modern re-creation of the 1997 PSOne and PC classic, will be out on several new platforms, including the PlayStation 4, Wii U, Apple’s OS X and Linux. This adds to the already expansive list of Windows PC, PlayStation 3 and PS Vita, announced at last year’s Eurogamer Expo.

E3 also marks the first time new footage has been seen of the game since late last year. With the new peak at the game comes the final game title, Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty.

Lorne Lanning, co-founder and co-owner of Oddworld Inhabitants said: “These are exciting times for the independent sector of the industry and both Just Add Water and Oddworld Inhabitants are proud of what we’ve accomplished together. We are very happy to be able to release on so many platforms and look forward to giving new and old fans a chance to revisit Abe’s adventures with a modern twist.”

Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee New ‘n’ Tasty will be out across the months following the holiday season 2013.

Yesterday, Industry veteran and Just Add Water CEO Stewart Gilray was on stage at the Eurogamer Expo to demonstrate the remake of the classic puzzle-platformer, Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee.

Whilst on stage, Gilray revealed the full title of the game, after Oddworld Inhabitants ran a competition where fans submitted suggestions. The full name for the remake will be ‘Oddworld: Abe’ s Oddysee – New ‘n’ Tasty’.

The reimagining of the classic game will feature fully 3D rendered environments with ‘2.5D’ gameplay; levels redesigned to take advantage of the new engine;  re-recorded sounds and voices, including some surprises; and full integration with gaming platforms.

The game will launch on Microsoft’s Xbox Live Arcade and Sony’s PlayStation Network for both the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita, with a Windows PC version due later.

Lorne Lanning, founder and co-owner of Oddworld Inhabitants said “Oddworld Inhabitants is always overwhelmed by the fan dedication to Abe and the games and hope to keep them involved in the creative process for future games. We are all excited about giving a new generation of gamers the opportunity to play Abe’s Oddysee the way they deserve.”

Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee – New ‘n’ Tasty is expected to be released in Q4 2013.
