Square Enix has revealed that it has obtained Activision's previously canceled True Crime: Hong Kong. TC Hong Kong will be developed by the original developers, United Front Games under a new yet to be revealed name, and is due to be released in 2012.

Lee Singleton, General Manager at Square Enix London Studios, says that the team "fell in love with the game and instantly recognised the huge potential in the game and the team". Likewise, United Front Games' President Stefan Wessels is excited and "really pleased to be working with Square Enix London Studios and their excitement on the game means a great deal to us”.

The game will be an openworld action game taking place on Hong Kong Island featuring the island's unique buildings and districts, with players taking up the roll of Detective Wei Shen, a local cop working undercover to infiltrate the Traids.

More details are expected to be revealed throughout the development.
