Software Engineer Volga Aksoy and Art Director Jerry Phaneuf are the co-founders of PixelFoundry. After a long history with EA, having contributed to over 12 AAA games, their intention is to innovate, not only in game design, but in how games are designed. Utilizing their experience working with AAA gaming technology, they are designing visually impressive and deeply compelling 3D games to compete with the larger budget titles.
PixelFoundry's first game, BlackSpace, is a unique form of real-time strategy, combining elements of action with an emphasis on economic and defensive efficiency within the context of intergalactic mining operations. BlackSpace will feature AAA quality 3D graphics and techniques, an engaging storyline, competitive multiplayer capabilities, all packaged up and tagged at a compelling price point. The Survival Mode of BlackSpace will be released on digitally distributed PC portals Q4 of 2012.
"We are early in development on BlackSpace," explains Jerry. "In line with some of the forward thinking independent developers out there, we really want to get the community involved with the game, incrementally releasing features and enhancements, while getting reactions and suggestions."
They also plan to make social and mobile apps that will compliment their games. They want to connect users with unique and personalized leaderboards.
