Project X Zone announced for the 3DS

Namco Bandai has announced Project X Zone, an upcoming action/strategy RPG game for the Nintendo 3DS which features characters from Capcom, Sega, and Namco Bandai Games.

Project X Zone will have notable characters from each company's biggest franchises fighting in pairs (Chris fighting with Jill and X teaming with Zero, for instance). Each character will perform moves fans should recognize from their respective games. For example, you can count on both Ryu and Ken pulling off their fair share of Hadoukens in this adventure.

While not a sequel to 2005's Namco X Capcom, the game is part of Namco's X series ("X" stands for "Cross"). In which Namco and Capcom have previously worked together on the Playstation 2 Japan exclusive role playing game Namco X Capcom and the recently released Street Fighter X Tekken. The latest title will be the first time SEGA has been introduced into the mix.

So far it is not known whether the game will be released outside of Japan and there is no news about the launch date for the game.
