Modern Warfare 3 gets new game mode 'Face off' and two free maps this May 15th

Activision has revealed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will be getting a new multiplayer mode 'Face Off' and two free maps this month.

Face Off is an intimate one-versus-one or two-versus-two deathmatch mode which is played on its own multiplayer maps. Featuring smaller, super-concentrated multiplayer maps, Face Off is intended to encourage strategy, skill, and teamwork.

The two free maps which will be available first for Xbox 360 owners on May 15th, include Erosion and Aground. 'Erosion' takes place across Roman ruins and aqueducts and 'Aground' takes place on a dilapidated transport ship sprawled over Scotland's Orkney Islands.

In addition to the two free maps, two more Face Off maps will be available to purchase with the Modern Warefare Collection Pack #2 which will be released for Xbox 360 owners on May 22nd, these include 'Getaway', which is set in a mansion on the beach in Brazil and 'Lookout', an advanced outpost in Afganistan.

Other content available in the Collection Pack includes, the Sanctuary and Foundation maps, which is currently offered exclusively via the Elite service and two new Spec Ops missions: Ironclad, linked to the Hamburg mission in the campaign and to a big tank battle, and Killswitch, set in a Russian dockyard.
