Virgin Gaming has announced that it will be teaming up with Microsoft to launch a new Xbox LIVE Tournaments service. Available later this year, this new exclusive application will let Xbox LIVE Gold subscribers seamlessly browse, enter, play in and track tournaments for their favorite games directly from Xbox LIVE.

The Xbox LIVE Tournaments service, powered by Virgin Gaming will offer skill-based events and challenges for players of all levels, including a wide variety of free-to-play or paid-entry tournaments and head-to-head matches in top titles from leading publishers.

Virgin Gaming currently has a community of over 1.3-million gamers and counting, with top partners including EA SPORTS, 2K Sports and Ubisoft, and innovations like in-game integration of automatic reporting of match results and a skill ranking system.
