According to Lexis Numérique the delay in release is because changing a price in the PlayStation Store system takes some time because of technical reasons linked to the servers. This price drop will not effect the release of AMY in the other territories, or on other platforms, as the release date for the XBLA version is still slated for January 11th, 2012, for 800 MS points in the US.
Following initial confusion over the price difference between both versions in the US, Lexis Numérique and VectorCell decided to organize a poll that ended yesterday at 12:00pm PST, to let the community decide what was the best solution between an immediate release with the current pricing scheme and a postponed release with a reduced price. 70% of the community advocated for a price drop while 30% agreed with the current price. Honoring their commitment to the players, Lexis Numérique and VectorCell asked Sony to drop the price of the PSN version in the US to $9.99.
AMY will be available on XBLA in the US on January 11th, with the PSN release following on January 17th. AMY will be available on both platforms in all other territories on January 11th.

While the feedback was really positive on the date and the reasonable price level of the game, some questions arose about the difference of prices in the US between the XBLA version (800 MS Points, which is the equivalent of $10) and the PSN version ($12.99).
José Sanchis, CEO of Lexis Numérique explains: “During the whole development of the game, we tried to be as transparent as possible on our decision making and we believe this situation is a good opportunity to explain what is at stake. It’s also a very good opportunity to involve the community in order to decide on the final price of the game in the US.”
He adds: “First of all, we believe AMY is probably one of the most ambitious games on the PSN and XBLA. With 8 to 10 hours of gameplay, an innovative approach to the survival horror genre and a level of graphic details rarely seen on downloadable console titles, Paul Cuisset and his team at VectorCell created a very unique game.”
“We decided to have a new approach to digital distribution by proposing heavy content at a very reasonable price because we believe price is a key issue, especially during hard economic times. Indeed, we believe AMY could have been sold a little bit higher. However, the issue we have to deal with is that a price in MS points doesn’t have the same value in all countries. Indeed, because of fluctuations between the dollar and the euro, 800 MS points are currently worth $10 in the US but €10 in Europe, which is about $12.8.”
“As we have the same price in MS Points in all countries, there will be a difference of pricing whatever decision we make between countries and/or platforms. The pricing scheme we announced enables everyone to buy the game at a reasonable price with great value for the money, with an even greater deal for the XBLA gamers who indeed have it cheaper.”
“This level of price is a tremendous effort and risk for independent teams like VectorCell and Lexis Numérique, all the more as we invested probably much more money in AMY than many console games available in digital distribution. But because we didn’t explain the situation, we understand the reaction of certain US PSN gamers who don’t understand why they should pay a little bit more than their friends who play on XBLA.”
“We even decided to go further. Now that the community has the elements to understand why we proposed this price scheme, we want to involve as many players as possible to tell us what to do with the price in the US: do we keep the current situation (800 MS Points for the XBLA version and $12.99 for the PSN version) or do we cut the price and margin for the PSN version (800 MS Points for the XBLA version and $9.99 for the PSN version).
To answer this question, we set up a poll available on the Facebook Page.
Because we value the opinion of the community, we commit to apply the voters’ decision, after the poll ends on Monday Jan 9th, 2012 at 12:00 PST. Please note that if the community decides to drop the price, we would have to delay the PSN release for at least one week because of logistic constraints with the PlayStation Store (the other platforms and territories won’t be affected by this).”

In AMY players escort the strange 8-year old autistic title character as they try to get her out of a city overrun with wild creatures and enemies. The player controls Lana, the woman escorting Amy and protecting her as the two attempt to escape their disease-ridden town. They encounter monsters and the military, among other foes, in their attempt to escape.
The story takes place in December 2034. Global warming has taken effect, causing widespread disease and an upsurge in natural disasters around the globe. The small town of Silver City (Midwest, USA) is directly affected - mostly by a comet that has crashed into town. As Lana, one of Silver's stricken citizens, regains consciousness - she witnesses the onset of a new kind of mayhem. Violent outbursts, fury, rage, wreckage and death: the world she knew seems to have gone to hell.
Apparently consumed by a mysterious illness, people she once knew are now part of a wild, ravenous horde. In spite of her wounds, she runs - she must escape this nightmare. Lana can tell that, deep within her, the viral process has begun but refuses to become one of them. Later, an autistic eight-year-old girl with strange powers will force her to make choices that change both their lives. Her name is Amy.

The game takes place in December 2034 when the gradual effects of global warming have spread diseases and natural disasters around the world. Amid this bleak scenario, the small town of Silver City in the USA’s Midwest suffers a near cataclysmic incident when it is stuck by an unidentified ‘comet’ from outer space. When lead character Lana regains consciousness, her world has descended into mayhem. Violent outbursts, fury, rage, wreckage and death; the world she knew seems to have become a living hell. As if struck by a mysterious virus, most of the people she once knew have now become part of a wild horde. Despite her wounds, Lana must run as far as possible to escape this nightmare. The viral process has also begun inside her but she refuses to become one of them. The presence of Amy, an enigmatic eight-year-old autistic girl with strange powers, who seems defenseless, will force her to make choices that will change both their lives. Both Lana and Amy will have to trust and help each other to escape various pursuers who take the form of infected humans, grisly creatures, military Special Forces and even other survivors.
In AMY players will discover a unique and absorbing gameplay experience that features extensive cooperation with a supporting character. Taking the role of Lana, players will quickly learn that Amy is neither a specialised warrior nor a docile following character. Players will be able to use her small size and weight to reach inaccessible areas, ask her to do specific actions and utilise her mysterious ‘gifts’. But first and foremost, Amy’s trust will need to be won, perhaps even by putting Lana’s life on the line.
This is a story-driven, survival horror game set in a close and tense atmosphere. AMY is based on a rich, addictive and twisted story-based scenario. Strong emphasis has been put in to the characters’ backgrounds and behavior but also on audio, sound design and a very unique use of camera settings to create emotion. AMY is one of the first games on PlayStation Network to employ a level of detailed rendering, modeling and motion capture animation hitherto expected only from fully boxed product. The game offers an original stealth-action gameplay mix that does include fierce close combat, albeit sparingly. Lana and Amy are for the most part considerably weaker than their enemies, and tactical approaches to enemy encounters can often offer the most suitable solutions. As Lana has become infected by the virus, she too will mutate when exposed too long and will eventually die if not cured or protected by one of Amy’s special powers. But when displaying more viable infection, Lana can lure enemies and move amongst other infected without being attacked.

KEY FEATURES
Unique & deep gameplay that features extensive cooperation with a character to be protected.
Contrary to several games with a secondary character, Amy (the child you have to protect) is neither a super warrior nor a docile character that follows you. You are able to use her small size and weight to reach inaccessible areas, ask her to do specific actions and you’ll even be able to use her mysterious gifts. But she will need to trust you and you might accept to get hurt to keep her safe.

Original stealth-action gameplay that includes fierce close combat.
Lana and Amy are often weaker than their enemies. You can choose to confront them directly by using improvised weapons for close combat. You can run or try to push them away but you can also use hiding places and prefer stealth action. But when infected, Lana can lure her enemies and move without being attacked.

Amy might be one the first games on PlayStation Network with such a level of rendering detailed modeling and motion capture animation.

Running, hiding and fighting are core elements of the gameplay. However, you’ll sometimes need to use your wit to get out of delicate situations.
