Independent publisher Mastertronic has today announced that it has scooped the rights to publish Bohemia Interactive’s forthcoming ‘Carrier Command Gaea Misison’ in the UK. The game – available on Xbox 360 and Windows PC – will be available on September 28th 2012.

“When I started The Producers in 1988, which is now part of Mastertronic, Carrier Command was one of the first games we worked on for Rainbird, so it feels right that we have secured the rights to this highly anticipated re-imagining follow up, almost a quarter of a century later," says Andy Payne of Mastertronic.

Carrier Command: Gaea Mission is a combination of action game with strategic elements set in a vast detailed archipelago. Players take control of a huge, futuristic carrier as it sails around lush, highly detailed islands, brimming with valuable resources – but guarded by hostile forces. Combining strategy, resource management, and edge-of-the-seat direct control, players must use brain and brawn to win individual skirmishes, large-scale wars and, ultimately, control of the islands.

The game’s core principles are based on the 1988 classic ‘Carrier Command’ – a game lauded on every format it was released. Described at the time by magazine The Games Machine as a "seminal game destined to change the state of gaming,” the game’s innovative combination of real-time strategy and direct control saw it soar to the top of that generation’s list of best games.

Bohemia Interactive are renowned for making highly detailed, authentic simulations of war – and Carrier Command benefits from its technical excellence, with a stunning representation of conflict in the near future.

The inclusion of a new campaign mode allows players to get to grips with a series of thrilling individual missions which involve first-person firefights and land, sea and air battles – all wrapped in a heart-pumping narrative based on the second book from the Gaea Universe trilogy.

The free-roam strategy mode offers an infinite amount of gameplay. Players can define their preferred play preferences, win conditions, starting bases, etc. and generate a virtually unique level, suitable for a quick blast or a more tactical affair which can last hours.

As part of bringing the 80's classic 'Carrier Command' to the modern age, Bohemia Interactive has announced NVIDIA 3D Vision support for the Windows PC version of Carrier Command: Gaea Mission. The enhanced perception of depth blends perfectly with the game’s futuristic setting.

“Supporting 3D Vision reaffirms the philosophy behind our game’s ‘NVIDIA: The Way It’s Meant to be Played’ label. Although personal preference will always be a factor, I think for many it will be part of the optimal experience and draw them even deeper into our game”, said Executive Producer Jan Kunt.

Based on a groundbreaking 80s classic, Carrier Command: Gaea Mission takes place on the breathtaking planetoid Taurus and revolves around the conflict between the Asian Pacific Alliance and the United Earth Coalition. The game floats a refreshing combination of 1st/3rd-person action - letting players take instant and direct control of any unit at any time - with real-time strategy elements, like commanding units, managing resources and customizing equipment. In command of an armed vehicle carrier, players will traverse the seas to engage in free-roaming combat and establish a strategic network of island bases for mining, manufacturing and defense.

Carrier Command: Gaea Mission is expected to be released on 27th September for the PC and the Xbox 360.
