The delay of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC will not materially affect development on CD Projekt Red's other major role-playing game Cyberpunk 2077, CEO of the Polish studio Marcin Iwinski has said. "Cyberpunk 2077 is developed by a separate team within CD Projekt Red, so the development of Cyberpunk 2077 is not really affected," Iwinski told GameSpot today. Cyberpunk 2077 is "probably" coming to Xbox One, PS4, and PC.

A week ago CD Projekt RED released the first official teaser trailer for their upcoming open-world, story-driven RPG Cyberpunk 2077, and it’s already been seen over 6 million times. The clip’s premiere was accompanied by a series of insightful materials, revealing even more details about the game setting. You can find a compilation of the most important here.

“Cyberpunk isn’t about saving humanity, it’s about saving yourself,” says Mike Pondsmith, in the video below titled “Cyberpunk 2077 - Mike Pondsmith about Cyberpunk World”. This video explains his inspirations for creating the pen-and-paper RPG Cyberpunk system, which is the main foundation of CD Projekt RED’s video game.

“Working with Mike Pondsmith is a great experience for the studio. Many of the people behind Cyberpunk 2077 have played his game, and having his support is very important for us. It’s good to know what inspired him and what influenced his vision of the world. Our experience in video game storytelling and the technology , capable of building open-world games, combined with Mike’s vision will result in one of the most kick-ass futuristic RPGs, ” said Adam Badowski, head of CD Projekt RED studio.

Did you know that the woman in the teaser trailer is a real-life model? You can see her in the additional “behind the scenes” materials, published by the co-creators of the clip, Platige Image. You can check out early concept sketches, the 3D scanning of real-life models and how the final result was achieved here.

The creators of the game have also released some new information about the world of 2077, which may play an important part in the game’s storyline. In the second half of the 21st century, a new form of entertainment is on everybody’s lips. Braindances are digital recordings of one person’s experience, packaged for sale to others. You can read more about them here.

CD Projekt RED also launched Afterlife - the official forum of the game. Many users have already contributed, sharing their thoughts on the setting and the genre. All these opinions, along with thousands of comments about the teaser trailer, are important community feedback for the team.

Many gaming fans have also noticed the hidden message in the teaser trailer:

“As you may know, Cyberpunk 2077 isn’t the only title we are working on. Those of you who watched the teaser trailer carefully know that something big is coming on the 5th of February. Everything will be clearer on that day." comments Badowski.

"Right now I can only say that, for the first time in the history of our studio, it will be a fully open-world game (just like Cyberpunk will be). We also remember our games’ trademark engrossing and non-linear storytelling. In the studio, the strong bond of these two elements - an open world and a captivating tale - is what everyone is trying to achieve.  Both Cyberpunk 2077 and the second game draw upon these two pillars to bring our vision of a perfect RPG to life.”

The first teaser trailer for Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt Red's upcoming futuristic RPG, was released earlier today, and it looks fantastic. Even though it's entirely CG, it really provides a great idea of what the game could ultimately be like, and the developers revealed some key world details as well. But that's not all that the trailer revealed - some redditors, geniuses that they are, uncovered a hidden message in a frame of the video, and it goes like this:

CD Projekt RED have today released a teaser trailer and revealed more details of Cyberpunk 2077's story and setting, the official description follows:

In Cyberpunk 2077, the player will be thrown into a dark future. The metropolis of Night City is a stage set to tell the tale of one individual, raised on the streets, who tries to lift himself up from the gutter and find a way to survive amongst boostergangs and megacorporations in a city of filth and sin. Drugs, violence, poverty and exclusion haven’t disappeared by 2077, as people stayed they were for centuries – greedy, closed-minded and weak. But not only ghosts of the past trouble mankind, but new issues have appeared. Psychos go on rampages and the streets are filled with junkies addicted to a new form of entertainment – the braindance, a cheap way to experience the emotions and stimuli of someone else, someone living a more exciting life.

Braindances are digital recordings of a person’s experience. The viewer can stream a braindance directly into his neural system via special brain augmentations, called a BD player. Braindances allow the viewer to experience all brain processes registered, including emotions, muscle movements and all stimuli perceived by the recording person.

The range of themes of these recordings varies from simple braindances made by megacorporations, which e.g. allow the viewer to feel the full experience of an explorer with all its thrills, sweats, smells, views, sounds and the real feeling of curiosity that pushes men to go beyond the horizon against fear and physical weakness. But there are also more controversial sides of braindance, because some recordings are created illegally in the underground. Entering the mind of a serial killer means not only seeing the monstrosity he performs, but also living his lust to kill and fulfillment.

You haven’t experienced the latest New Hollywood recording? You’re nobody! The streets live with braindances, everyone just got crazy and wants to be a part of this new entertainment fad. Some people push it even too far and they cannot stop living other people’s lives. If you’re not linked to a braindance right now, you are probably discussing what happened to you during your last session. Of course, just like every great new cultural movement, BDs have people who criticize them. Just watch these two guys arguing about this phenomena.

This is the world of 2077. The gap between high and low is bigger than ever. Drugs, violence, braindance, psychos on the loose… Will you be able to function in this defunct society or end up a BD-junky with nothing left, set aside like garbage - still living someone’s else life –not aware of what’s going on around you? Whether you like it or not - this is the age of braindance decadence; this is Cyberpunk 2077.

CD Projekt RED has officially announced the title of its new in-development role-playing game. Cyberpunk 2077 will be set in the world created by Mike Pondsmith, one of the fathers of the cyberpunk genre and the creator of the cult-classic pen-and-paper RPG, Cyberpunk.

The cyberpunk atmosphere, well known from William Gibson’s novels, the “Blade Runner” movie and the famous pen-and-paper game, Cyberpunk 2020, will surround the player. The creators promise that Cyberpunk 2077 will be true to the essence of the cyberpunk genre. Players will be thrown into the dark future of the year 2077 and into a world where advanced technologies have become both the salvation and the curse of humanity. A multi-thread, nonlinear story designed for mature players (a CD Projekt RED trademark) will take place in the sprawling metropolis of Night City and its surroundings.

Players will have a chance to visit places well known from Cyberpunk 2020, including a combat zone completely taken over by gangs, the legendary Afterlife joint and the nostalgic Forlorn Hope.

Freedom of action and diversity in gameplay will be delivered thanks to the sandbox nature of the game and mechanics inspired by the Cyberpunk 2020 pen-and-paper system, fine tuned to meet the requirements of a modern RPG. Gameplay will pump adrenaline through players’ veins and be consistent with the celebrated Cyberpunk spirit – rebellion, style, edge, and uncertainty. And of course, a cyberpunk reality cannot be deprived of murderous steel – guns, rifles, implants, dozens of gadgets and other varied pieces of equipment needed to survive on the streets of Night City.

“The Team has to love the material. The Team has to want to be faithful to the material. The Team has to have the skills to execute the material and see that vision through to the end. They have to be on fire with the desire to make an extraordinary game. And that leads, at last, to why we hooked up with CD Projekt RED” – Mike Pondsmith commented, why he has chosen to work with the Polish game developer.
