Deep Down producer Kazunori Sugiura has said Capcom hopes to announce details about the game's beta later this month. A Deep Down beta was originally due to begin around PS4's Japanese launch in February, but is now scheduled to kick off this summer.

Earlier this week, we reported via a PlayStation 4 Lab broadcast that Deep Down, Capcom’s upcoming PlayStation 4 dungeon RPG, will not have any female playable characters—for story purposes. In a post on the game’s official Facebook page, producer Kazunori Sugiura offered clarification.

Sony Japan has released some new renders and screenshots of the upcoming PS4 exclusive Deep Down, also sharing more information on some of the different kinds of weapons and armor that will be available in the game. We learn more about the three kinds of weapons that have been unveiled so far. The choice of weapon is defined crucial to defeat the monsters encountered in the game’s dungeons.

A gameplay demonstration of the PS4 exclusive 'Deep Down' was shown at this year's Tokyo Game Show and Sony Japan has now released the footage for all to see. The videos show both the single and mutiplayer modes in action. In both of the videos the gameplay starts around the 10 minutes mark.

Capcom has announced at Tokyo Game Show 2013 that its upcoming PlayStation 4 exclusive Deep Down will be free-to-play. The news comes from a tweet sent out by Sony's president of worldwide studios Shuhei Yoshida. The Sony executive also mentioned that Capcom's fantasy role-playing game is scheduled to arrive as an open beta "near the launch of the PS4 in Japan."

Today Sony Computer Entertainment Japan and Asia released an interview with legendary Capcom producer Yoshinori Ono, in which he shared quite a lot more details about the upcoming PS4 exclusive Deep Down, explained the themes of the game and the story, and praised the PS4 hardware specs, also giving some details on how the DualShock 4 and the remote play feature with the PS Vita will be used.

In Deep Down, you play as a person living in New York in the year 2094 who dips into memories to help unlock a mystery. These memories don’t include ancient cityscapes a la Assassin’s Creed, but rather deep, dark, monster-filled dungeons.

The second Deep Down trailer has revealed that the new Capcom IP is an online game. Featuring glimpses of a series of creepy monsters in a subterranean environment, it also suggests there's a horror element to the fantasy game, which was announced for PS4 in February and runs on Capcom's next-gen Panta Rhei engine.
