This week's Fable Legends character breakdown is a minor double-whammy - Lionhead has also seen fit to post details of a new (playable?) area, the Deadlands, a "desolate corner of Albion" that's "patrolled by the Strangers, an elusive group of men and women who act as an army, police force and communications network for those travelling across or living along the edges of this harsh environment".

With Fable Anniversary out of the way, the avuncular Demon Door that is Lionhead has begun to whisper of Fable Legends, the developer's first game for Xbox One. There's a lot of firsts where Legends is concerned, actually. It's the first boxed Fable game to give players a choice of heroes, for starters. Would you like to meet one of those heroes? His name is Sterling, and he's quite the charmer.

Fable Legends is set to evolve for years, thanks to the inclusion of episodic content.
That's according to game director David Eckelberry, who told IGN Benelux that the narrative component of the upcoming game wouldn't be lost in its multiplayer focus.
"We don't want Fable Legends to stop when you finish the game. You should think about seasons and episodes. Fable Legends might just be Season One and we can add new quests and stories in the future, in the form of DLC for example."

Lionhead's online-centric Fable Legends for Xbox One may not, in fact, be an always-online game, as we reported back at announcement. According to game director David Eckelberry, the developer would prefer to mandate a connection in order to track down cheaters, but has yet, it seems, to decide on the final implementation.

Today at gamescom, Microsoft Studios and renowned UK developer Lionhead Studios unveiled the next installment in the epic Fable saga – Fable Legends – exclusively for Xbox One. Prepare to return to the magical and mysterious fantasy world of Albion, only this time with up to three other Heroes as you embark on quests, slay monsters and discover new weapons, armor and treasure to upgrade your character with.
