Pre-orders are now live for the forthcoming Final Fantasy XIII-2 for Windows PC, Square Enx has announced. It is the second instalment in the Final Fantasy XIII series of games to launch for Windows PC and will release on 11th December 2014, priced at £12.99/ €15.99. The game is available to pre-order via the Square Enix Store and Steam, with those pre-ordering receiving 10% off.

The Windows PC launch of Final Fantasy XIII-2 includes a number of new features such as 60 FPS support from launch, customisable rendering resolution (720, 1080 and more) and Japanese Voice support with subtitles.

Square Enix  has also confirmed that following feedback from fans, the already released Final Fantasy XIII on Windows PC will also be updated in December to include the customisable rendering resolution option.

The most recent release in the Final Fantasy XIII series, Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII will be available for Windows PC in spring 2015.

During the Q&A session of the company's annual shareholder's briefing, Wada was asked the expected question about the much wanted remake. His response was something to the effect of, we'll make a Final Fantasy VII remake once we've made a Final Fantasy game that exceeds the quality of FFVII.

Square Enix has announced that the final set of downloadable content for Final Fantasy XIII-2 is available today via Xbox LIVE Marketplace for the Xbox 360 and tomorrow via PlayStation Network for the PlayStation 3.

These include two new episodes; 'Lightning’s Story: Requiem of the Goddess' and 'Snow’s Story: Perpetual Battlefield' along with White and Black Mage Costumes and 'Mog's Outfits: A Wondrous Wardrobe,' which includes 16 different costume types for Noel and Serah’s Moogle companion.

The Lightning’s Story: Requiem of the Goddess DLC reveals the full arduous battle of Lightning and Caius. Players will be able to take control as Lightning who has a special ability available only for this episode. This episode includes important information relating to the overall storyline of Final Fantasy XIII-2 and players are therefore encouraged to complete the game prior to playing through this new content!

In the Snow’s Story: Perpetual Battlefield DLC, Snow is engaged in battles at the Coliseum after being separated from his fiancĂ©e, Serah. The episode also features a battle against the “Arbiter of Time,” who has been watching events unfold at the Coliseum. Snow should pose a difficult challenge to players and will allow them to end the Coliseum battles on a high note, and ultimately unlock Snow as a party member.

Square Enix recently announced on Famitsu (via Andriasang) that the Snow and Valfodr DLC will be available for download on Japan XBLA and PSN online stores this May 15.

Square Enix has announced new downloadable content for Final Fantasy 13-2. The DLC episode Lightning's Story: Requiem of the Goddess is due out mid-May. This DLC is expected to expand on the game's storyline and "reveal the hidden truth" behind the game's mysterious endings.

Late last year, we heard that Final Fantasy XIII-2 would be receiving Assassin's Creed clothing for main character Noel as DLC. That seems strange enough, but apparently Square isn't stopping the cross-company, cross-franchise add-ons there. A new rumor suggests that Mass Effect costume DLC is on the way for FF XIII-2.

Square Enix have today announced that the downloadable episode ‘Sazh: Heads or Tails?’ will be available at the end of the month for Final Fantasy XIII-2. The episode will be released February 28th via Xbox LIVE Marketplace for the Xbox 360 priced at 400 Microsoft Points, and on February 28th via PlayStation Network for the PlayStation 3 system priced at $4.99.

Players will have the ability to take control of Sazh, the popular character from Final Fantasy XIII, in a story that runs parallel to the main storyline. Once complete, the player is rewarded with the option of adding Sazh to their party. The downloadable content also includes two new card games, Chronobind and Serendipity Poker, in Serendepity, the Casino-style area that appears in the game in the second chapter and beyond.

Additionally, new outfits for both Noel and Serah will also be made available next week. Noel’s Spacetime Guardian outfit and Serah’s Beachwear outfit via Xbox LIVE Marketplace for Xbox 360 priced at 240 Microsoft Points, and on the PlayStation Network for the PlayStation 3 $2.99. The player has the ability to access the outfits at any point in the game via the main menu.

The first downloadable DLC for Final Fantasy XII-2  is now available on the Xbox Live Market Place and the PSN for 240 Microsoft Points or £1.59/$2.99.

Entitled, 'Opponent: Lightning & Amodar' the DLC allows gamers to face Lightning and Lieutenant Amodar in the Coliseum and once defeated can be recruited into the player’s party. The Coliseum appears in the Historia Crux (available from Chapter 2 onwards). Gamers can access the content by entering the Historia Crux and select "Coliseum-??? AF-".

Square Enix have today announced that extensive additional downloadable content is planned for Final Fantasy XIII-2, for both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

The planned content includes Coliseum Battles which pit the player against friends and foes from previous Final Fantasy titles, that, when defeated can be recruited into the player’s party. The Coliseum battle entitled ‘Lightning & Amodar’ will be available for Xbox 360 on 7th February via Xbox LIVE Marketplace and on 8th February for PlayStation 3 via the PlayStation Network.

In addition, there will also be the opportunity to explore the game’s secrets through story episodes for some of the key characters, such as Lightning which complement the narrative of Final Fantasy XIII-2. Full details on each piece of content will be revealed at a later date.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 is now available from today in North American territories, and on Friday 3rd February 2012 in European and PAL territories for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The launch trailer can be watched below.

When Final Fantasy XIII-2 was announced as a continuation to Final Fantasy XIII, gamers were not surprised. After all, Square Enix made very public comments about the length and cost of production for FFXIII. Being able to use similar assets would allow them to release a game sooner, and at a lower cost. What may surprise gamers is a claim by Game Informer that says from its time with the game, Final Fantasy XIII-2 may not be the final entry either.
