BioWare studio director Yanick Roy recently apologized to fans on his official Twitter account about the studio keeping game details under wraps, but promised gamers the company is furiously working on the title to deliver a quality game. "I apologize for not having any new info on the next Mass Effect for you. It's because our focus is on doing it right over doing it fast," Roy wrote.

BioWare are considering upgraded versions of the first three Mass Effect games, with improved textures, and 1080p and 60fps visuals. As far as anyone knew BioWare is busy working on Mass Effect 4, with the first hints about the new game having been made last year. But after answering a question on Twitter it seems that they may also be considering bringing the original three games to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

BioWare's next Mass Effect game is in a playable state and coming along nicely, according to BioWare's Edmonton and Montreal general manager Aaryn Flynn. The developer posted tantalizing Twitter messages after an internal play test on Wednesday, offering words of encouraging praise for the much anticipated sequel.

Fans hoping for a year-end Mass Effect holiday treat from BioWare are out of luck, as the developer has confirmed that it won't share any more details on the next Mass Effect game until 2014 "More info sometime in 2014 I hope. That's the most specific I can be," BioWare Edmonton and Montreal general manager Aaryn Flynn said on Twitter recently.

BioWare has released the first images from its next Mass Effect game, which is currently in development at BioWare Montreal. The teaser photos surfaced online yesterday as part of the franchise's second annual N7 Day celebrations, and showcase a number of pieces of concept art along with what looks like an in-game screenshot.

Both Dragon Age III: Inquisition and the next Mass Effect game will be powered by DICE's Frostbite 3 engine, BioWare has said. "For everyone who's been asking after the #BF4 reveal, #DA3 and the next Mass Effect are also using Frostbite 3. BioWare does not want you to refer to the next Mass Effect game as Mass Effect 4. Doing so would imply it was a sequel to Commander Shepard's story. But that doesn't mean it will be a prequel, either.

BioWare says that fans of Mass Effect will need to wait at least another two years for the fourth installment of the sci-fi RPG franchise. In an interview with Gamer Syndrome, a BioWare employee revealed that the company is aiming for a late 2014 to mid-2015 launch window for the next Mass Effect project.
