Rockstar has announced that the latest DLC for Max Payne 3, The Painful Memories Pack, will be available for download on December 4th for 800 Microsoft Points on Xbox LIVE and $9.99 on PlayStation Network and PC. Rockstar Pass owners will receive this content at no additional charge.

Inspired by the grisly shootouts from Max's past, the Painful Memories Pack will include four new maps: the Roscoe street subway map from the original Max Payne, the Hoboken dive Marty's Bar, a level focused around a posh yacht called Shoot First and, finally, the Gang Wars map, Canal de Panama.

In addition to the new maps, the Painful Memories Pack also includes the IMG 5.56 and UAR-21 assault rifles, new avatars, items and the Hangover Burst, which causes enemies to respawn with blurred vision, reduced stamina and health.

Rockstar have revealed details of the 'Hostage Negotiation' Map Pack for Max Payne 3. Coming this fall, the Map Pack will include four new multiplayer maps along with a range of new items, weapons and the Filhos De Ogum avatar faction.

Taking inspiration from the early levels in the single player mode, the 'Club Moderno' and 'Esadio Do Galatians' maps take place in a nightclub and a stadium respectively, while the 'O Palacio Strip Club' and 'Favela Heights' maps are both set in Favelas.

The Hostage Negotiation Map Pack will also include two new weapons: the 'M24 Sniper Rifle' and the 'IA2 Assault Rifle', the new 'Explosive Burst' for explosive booby traps, the 'Bomb Suit' item to protect against explosive damage and the 'Intimidation Mask' item to cause slower reload times for your enemies.

The pack will be available later this fall for 800 Microsoft Points on Xbox LIVE or $9.99 from the PlayStation Network and PC (Rockstar Pass owners of course will receive it free of charge).

In a post on its official blog, Rockstar has today announced that anybody who uses hacks, mods or other exploits to cheat in Max Payne 3's multiplayer mode, will be quarantined from the rest of the players and their leaderboard entries will be removed.

"We're aware that a small minority of players are spoiling the Max Payne 3 multiplayer experience for honest players with cheats and hacks, and while certain issues will be dealt with in forthcoming title updates, today we'd like to make it clear that anyone using these nefarious methods will be dealt with." it explained.

"Anyone found to have used hacked saves, modded games, or other exploits to gain an unfair advantage in Max Payne 3 Multiplayer will be quarantined from all other players into a "Cheaters Pool", where they'll only be able to compete in multiplayer matches with other confirmed miscreants. In the event we decide to absolve any of these cheaters for their past transgressions they may re-enter play with the general public, however a second offense will result in their indefinite banishment."

"In either case, we will be removing invalid leaderboard entries to ensure that the players at the top of the charts have earned their spots fairly."

Rockstar is also asking players to report any suspected cheaters by emailing the following information to maxpayne3.banhammer@rockstargames.com:
  • Platform (PC, PS3 or Xbox 360)
  • Cheater’s Gamertag / ID.
  • Description of the violation.
  • If possible, some concrete evidence, such as a video or a screenshot.

In Max Payne 3, the Assault Rifle class of weaponry serves as the backbone to Max's arsenal; the G6 Commando, MD-97L, FAL, and AK-47 all deliver powerful long range accuracy while still being agile enough to handle enemies at shorter distances with their rapid rate of fire, and high-capacity magazines.

Rockstar has today announced that two arcade modes ‘Score Attack’ and ‘New York Minute’ will be playable in the single player mode of Max Payne 3.

Score Attack, which will be unlocked once you've completed a single-player level, will allow you to replay the level where you gun for the highest score possible - acquiring points for each shot that hits its mark and each adversary you vanquish.

While New York Minute, a fan-favourite bonus mode from Max Payne and Max Payne 2, puts one minute on the clock and awards you with additional time for each enemy that you kill.

Both arcade modes will feature a leaderboard so you can best your friends, crew and others. Doing well and getting the top-scores will also reward you with exclusive multiplayer avatars and XP benefits.

The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Max Payne 3 launch on May 15th in North America and May 18th internationally, while the PC edition's out on May 29th in the US and June 1st everywhere else.

Arcade Mode opens up as you complete each campaign chapter, and it comes in two flavors. Score Attack breaks your kills into categorized points, so the better you murder the higher you score. Body shots give you a worthless 10 points, so aim for the face to score 100, blow dudes to pieces for 200, or devastate a vehicle for 250.
