Nintendo of Europe boss Satoru Shibata has apologised to UK consumers for Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate shortages. Posting on the Nintendo UK Twitter account, the executive said: "I'd like to apologise for the current stock shortage due to high demand of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate at retail.

Capcom has confirmed that Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate is available to purchase today in North America and on March 22nd across Europe for the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. Both versions are available to purchase at retail and also as a digital download in the Nintendo eShop.

In Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, players take on the role of a hunter and are sent to explore a settlement within the Monster Hunter universe, completing quests on their journey to seek and slay monsters while improving their skills and earning equipment upgrades. With an additional 38 monsters since the release of Monster Hunter Tri, extra stages, hundreds of additional quests and thousands of new pieces of equipment, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate is the most expansive offering of the series to date.

Players can experience the world of Monster Hunter alone or with three friends in local multiplayer on Nintendo 3DS, while Will U players will be able to form hunting parties of up to four players online or enjoy the hunt with Nintendo 3DS players via a local wireless connection. Nintendo 3DS players will also have access to play online via the Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate Packet Relay Tools for Nintendo 3DS, which utilizes the Wii U hardware to play online using one Nintendo 3DS hand-held system.

Hunters who own both Nintendo 3DS and Wii U versions of the game will be able to transfer their own personal save data from the Wii U version to their copy on Nintendo 3DS, and vice versa. In order to do so, players must download programs in the Nintendo eShop for both systems. From the Nintendo 3DS, the program is called “Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate Data Transfer Program” and from the Wii U system, it is the “Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate Packet Relay Tools for Nintendo 3DS.”

Capcom will be supporting the title with free of charge weekly downloadable quests for several months after launch, the first of which are available this week. Releasing in April, a system update will add online cross region functionality and the ability to play solely with the Gamepad in off-tv play.

Capcom has today confirmed that following the March release of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate for the Wii U, a software update will be released in April as a response to Capcom community feedback.

The software update will add online cross-region functionality, allowing European and North American gamers to play together online in up to four-player battles. Monster Hunters will also be able to play the game using just the Wii U GamePad without the need for a TV screen as the software update makes the title compatible with off-TV play.

Capcom will also continue to support Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate for several months after release with additional free of charge downloadable quests. The first quest will be available at launch.

Moster Hunter 3 Ultimate will be released in North America on March 19th and across Europe on March 22nd for both the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS, both at retail as well as on Nintendo eShop.

Playable demos for Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate on the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS are available now for free download in the Nintendo eShop, Capcom has announced.

The free single player demo will feature two full quests, one for beginner players and another for intermediate hunters, in addition to 12 different weapon options for players to choose for their battle. Players will have to brave the elements of the frozen tundra against the fierce Lagombi and take the fight against the aquatic Plesioth on land and into the water.

Hunters are encouraged to test and hone their skills now, as the full game will hit retail stores in North America on March 19th and across Europe on March 22d. The title will also be available to purchase digitally on the same dates.

Capcom have released three new gameplay videos for the Wii U edition of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate. The videos feature battles with the monsters Brachydios, Zinogre, and Lagombi.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate will feature online play for up to four players on the Wii U, as well as local cross-platform play between both the Wii U and 3DS versions. Gamers who own both a Wii U and Nintendo 3DS can also transfer saved data between the two consoles.

At the Tokyo Game Show last week Capcom showed for the first time Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate on Wii U and revealed how it will work in tandem with the Nintendo 3DS version, already out in Japan but scheduled to launch on these shores alongside the Wii U version in March 2013.
