The historical strategy game Napoleon: Total War - Gold Edition will be released for the Mac on July 3rd, Feral Interactive has announced. Developed by Creative Assembly and published by SEGA for Windows, the game is the latest Mac installment of the Total War series to be launched by Feral Interactive.

The Mac version of Napoleon: Total War - Gold Edition comprises the base game and all the game updates, improvements and downloadable content, including The Peninsula Campaign, which sees Napoleon battle for control of the Iberian Peninsula against the allied forces of Spain, the United Kingdom and Portugal. It also includes three unit packs, the Imperial Eagle Pack, the Coalition Battle Pack and the Heroes of the Napoleonic Wars Pack.

The game will include several LAN and online multiplayer modes, the latter supported by Apple’s Game Center technology when the game is purchased from the Mac App Store.

“The Napoleonic wars are an inspired setting for a Total War game,” said David Stephen, Managing Director of Feral Interactive. “The historical narrative and the introduction of attrition brings additional elements of realism to a fantastic series.”

Napoleon: Total War - Gold Edition for the Mac will retail in North America for $29.99, £19.99 in the UK and €24.99 throughout Europe. The game will also be available online for direct download from a variety of digital partner sites worldwide including the Feral Store and the Mac App Store.

The historical strategy game, Napoleon: Total War - Gold Edition, will be released on the Mac this Spring, Feral Interactive have announced.

Napoleon: Total War is a combination of real-time battle tactics and turn-based political strategy that immerses players in a re-creation of the Napoleonic Wars that wracked Europe in the early 19th century.

The game gives players the choice to either command Napoleon's Grande Armée and attempt to surpass the achievements of the Little Corporal himself, or else to lead one of the Four Great Powers: Great Britain, Austria, Prussia and Russia allied against him. In "Napoleon's Campaigns" and the "Campaigns of the Coalition", players must combine political cunning with military endeavor in order to lead their nation to victory across the campaign maps of Europe, the Middle East and North Africa.

In addition to the campaign modes, Napoleon: Total War - Gold Edition features "Napoleon's Battles", where players can fight famous battles such as Austerlitz, Trafalgar and Waterloo in the same conditions faced by Napoleon.

SEGA has announced that two new DLC unit packs are now available for Napoleon: Total War.

Previously available only as part of the exclusive Napoleon: Total War Imperial Edition, the Heroes of The Napoleonic Wars unit pack contains 10 superior battlefield units. This pack includes the veteran cavalrymen of the 15th British Hussars, the close-combat specialists of the 1st East Prussian Grenadier Battalion, and the deadly Moscow Musketeers, capable of unleashing massed volleys of fire before performing devastating bayonet charges.

Also available now is the Imperial Eagle Pack, containing new units that were previously available only with the original boxed-copy launch, or as pre-order extras. With the Imperial Eagle Pack installed, players can field 11 famous units, such as the mighty Grand Battery of The Convention, and Great Britain’s HMS Elephant: a colossal ship-of-the-line capable of thunderous broadsides. Also included are two brand-new units: Austria’s heavily-armoured Archduke Ferdinand Cuirassiers, and Russia’s elite Lifeguard Cossacks, who specialise in lightning-fast hit-and-run cavalry charges.

Heroes of the Napoleonic Wars and the Imperial Eagle Pack are available now on Steam, priced at £1.99/$3.25/€1.99/.
