Available from December 20th, the free download refines a number of gameplay elements in line with requests from the PES community. The ability to cycle between players within the context of a multi-player online match has been added back into the game, allowing users to deftly switch players with ease. The myPES app has also been tweaked to enhance player matches and accessibility and the online side of the game has been further enhanced with changes to player matching when using Master League Online teams. Issues with the online pass have been resolved, and a small issue with player numbers in Master League Online has been rectified.
The solus game has also been improved in key areas, with new goal celebrations for selected players, and better offside decisions from the referee. Similarly, the player movement elements are now enhanced, while in-game formation changes also benefit from more explanation. The cursor fixing in relation to the goalkeeper and their abilities have also been improved.

Available today for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, the update adds a widget system that acts as a shortcut to gathering friends together for online matches. PES 2013 allows up to eight people to play in a match simultaneously, and the new download adds Community modes, wherein friends can be automatically selected from a pre-determined list and allows communities to track and monitor their results. Users can also now concede a match at half-time as well.
Konami will also soon release a 2nd DLC pack that reflects all summer transfers, adds further UEFA elements, team updates and 11 new boot designs.

The free demo will offer 11 fully-licensed teams, and benefits from a raft of subtle but important gameplay improvements since the first demo was released in July.
“We wanted to show our hand early with PES 2013 as, frankly, there is a lot to enjoy,” commented Jon Murphy, European PES Team Leader for Konami. “However, we are constantly refining the game and this second demo will show fans that we are always striving for perfection, and they will notice many additions and enhancements that bring PES 2013 even closer to matching the grace, unpredictability and skill that top-level football displays.”
The new demo offers six difficulty settings, and allows the user to play ten-minute matches. Since the first demo, the Tokyo-based PES Productions team has been constantly working to analyse how to improve PES 2013, and the new demo is a perfect example of their quest for football perfection. The game’s balance between offense and defence has been equalised, and the targeting of passes using the game’s feted manual control system has been improved. Similarly, the trajectory of passes has been refined, as has the blocking by defenders, shot speed, and the ways referees officiate – including the overseeing of offside situations.
Critically, the AI when a team is passing out of a defensive situation into a potential attacking one has been fine-tuned – an essential part of a game like PES 2013, where passing and movement are central to build up play. Lobs and looping shots have also been made harder to effect, following feedback from the initial demo. Anthems for the starting line-ups have also been implemented.
With the focus of PES 2013 firmly on the field, the new demo also invites players to tackle a selected number of training trials. The full version of the game offers an exhaustive training roster wherein users can familiarise themselves with quick one-twos, tackling, manual shooting and passing and dynamic first-touch moves to gain space on a closing defender. The demo will feature a number of these tests so users can experience the sheer level of control PES 2013 offers.

The publisher has also bolstered various licences for use within its forthcoming PES 2013 title, with the Spanish league licensed in its entirety, while all the club’s from Italy’s highest league are also included. Konami has also sourced individual agreements with Manchester United, Bayern Munich, FC Porto, AEK Athens, Galatasaray Istanbul, Shahktar Donetsk, FC Kopenhagen, Zenit St Petersburg, CSKA Moscow, RSC Anderlecht, Dinamo Kyiv and Dinamo Zagreb among many others. Overall, 150 licensed teams are now available, with 17 more licensed national squads added, including the likes of England, Italy, Germany and France. Details on additional licences will follow.
“The UEFA Champions League is the most prestigious club competition in football, and we are delighted to have extended our relationship with UEFA to continue to feature it exclusively in PES 2013 and beyond,” commented Shinji Hirano, President for Konami. “With the emphasis in the new game focusing on control, freedom of play and the individual brilliance of the world’s best players, it is only fitting that PES 2013 features the one competition where their talents are truly showcased.”
Konami is also offering a pre-order incentive in the form of a limited edition UEFA Champions League steel book edition. This specially-packaged version will be exclusively available via Blockbuster in the UK, and celebrates Konami’s exclusive agreement to feature the UEFA Champions League within the Pro Evolution Soccer series, and a secondary bonus includes a DLC code to unlock Historic UEFA Champions League Match Balls as seen in the real-life competition. The UK will also get a second, Manchester United-themed steelbook edition for pre-orders, boasting the club’s livery on its cover and which is exclusive to GAME Stores.
PES 2013 will be released on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC at the end of September, with versions for PlayStation 2, PSP, Wii and Nintendo 3DS to follow.
