RAGE’s new add-on pack, RAGE: The Scorchers, is now available for download for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC, Bethesda has announced.
Priced at $4.99 or 400 MS Points, RAGE: The Scorchers allows players to fight alongside new allies to thwart the Scorcher clan’s deadly plot to destroy the Wasteland. The add-on pack also includes ‘Ultra-Nightmare’, a new high difficulty mode, as well as an ‘Extended Play’ option that allows you to play past the original ending of the game - giving players the opportunity to finish collecting items and achievements. Key features include:
New Enemies and Weapons - Fight the Scorcher clan, the Wasteland’s most psychotic bandits, and conquer overwhelming odds with help from a brutal Nailgun featuring three distinct ammunition types.
Rediscover the Wasteland -
Explore six all-new environments, compete in a new season of Mutant Bash TV and play all-new mini-games.
Ultra-Nightmare Mode - Take your rage to another level with the new Ultra-Nightmare Mode, designed especially for hardcore players looking for the ultimate challenge.
Extended Play Mode & Combat Scenario Selection - Continue exploring the Wasteland long after the final fight with the ‘Extended Play’ option, and relive your favorite missions any time you want with the all-new ‘Combat Scenario Selection’ menu.
So it turns out RAGE has DLC. DLC that’s coming out a year after the game, with all the marketing bluster of a mouse’s fart. But hey: we enjoyed RAGE back in the hazy mists of 2011, so perhaps it’s time to get excited. Scorchers will set you back a relatively modest $4.99, and it’s actually sounding pretty substantial, offering half-a-dozen new areas and a shiny (well, rusty) new gun, among other things.

John Carmack kicked off his 2012 QuakeCon keynote by apologizing for Rage. He candidly discussed the driver issues, the marketing challenges, and the end of the game itself, which he characterized as being “not very good.” It was a conversation you rarely see from someone as powerful as Carmack, and it seemed to pull the crowd to his side from the first moments of the speech. It didn’t make everyone happy, however.

RAGE isn't what you think it is.
In fact, it's easiest to tell you what RAGE isn't right away. It's nothing like Fallout 3. It's nothing like Borderlands. It's not an RPG, though Id and Bethesda have used RPG terminology in describing it. It's not much of an open world. It's not very big. It's not very long.

Rage didn't start out the way I thought it would. My idea of it was mostly based on its initial reveal some years ago: depicting a barren wasteland where people live, drive, and dress in whatever they can find. Just another Mad Max pastiche, right? So imagine my surprise when the game begins inside a cold, angled underground capsule (an "Ark") from a forgotten time in the far-flung future. I guess post-apocalyptic worlds have to start somewhere.

id's upcoming shooter, Rage, is no small game. The PC version will require 25GB of free hard drive space minimum, a requirement that some Shackers are finding "painful."
So, how do the consoles fare? The PS3 version will demand quite a bit of hard drive space as well: 8GB worth, in fact. Xbox 360 owners are also being asked to install the game.

John Carmack revealed during his key note speech at QuakeCon 2011 that Rage will require a whopping 20GB+ of disc space if you plan to install it on your Xbox 360.
