Konami has confirmed its two-game Silent Hill HD Collection, will be released for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on March 29th. The publisher has also unveiled a teaser trailer for the eagerly-anticipated compilation.

The Silent Hill HD Collection comprises of the second and third games from the series, both of which were previously released for PlayStation 2. As befits their resurrection, the new Xbox 360 and PS3 updates enjoy completely-updated HD make-overs, while the soundtrack has been re-recorded, as has all dialogue – reuniting the original vocal artists. The included version of Silent Hill 2 also features the exclusive stages from the original Director’s Cut supplemental release.

Konami have today announced the definitive release dates for the three 2012 Silent Hill franchise titles: Silent Hill HD Collection, Silent Hill Downpour and Silent Hill Book of Memories.

Silent Hill HD Collection: March 6.
Silent Hill HD Collection serves as a tribute to the core Silent Hill fans by taking the most famous games of the series, Silent Hill 2 & 3, and re-mastering them in high-definition graphics and adding new voiceovers.

Silent Hill Downpour: March 13.
Silent Hill Downpour follows the story of Murphy Pendleton, a convicted felon, who finds himself trapped in Silent Hill after his prison transport bus crashes. Silent Hill Downpour is the most expansive Silent Hill to date, as players can embark on side missions, explore the town and piece more of the mystery of Silent Hill together.

Silent Hill Book of Memories: March 27
Available exclusively for the brand new PlayStation Vita, Book of Memories is an all-new game in the Silent Hill series, with a unique premise and storyline. The story begins with a strange book that is received; inside that book is your entire life story and all of your memories. You discover that by altering what's written you can actually change the past. You can write your own ideal history. And for the first time ever in a Silent Hill game, it will support multiplayer, so friends can share in the fright in a co-op mode.

Konami have announced that the once Playstation exclusive Silent Hill HD collection will now be coming to the Xbox 360.

According to Konami, the Xbox 360 version is the result of fan's disagreement of the Playstation 3 exclusivity and a demand for the collection to be released on the Xbox 360.

The Silent Hill collection includes HD re-masterings of Silent Hill 2 and 3, although no exact release date has yet been confirmed, the bundle is set to release sometime in September/October with an simultaneous launch on both consoles.

The Silent Hill series remains one of the most fascinating and entertaining stories in video game history, and the three new titles celebrate the past, present and future of the franchise. Silent Hill Downpour follows a convict called Murphy Pendleton, whose transport to a secure facility is interrupted by a crash on the edge of the town. Wandering into Silent Hill, Pendleton explores new areas unseen in the Silent Hill series, including the town’s defunct transport tunnels.


Silent Hill: Downpour will be available on both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 with 3D functionality. This will mark the series’ first foray into 3D and will also allow the players to become truly immersed in the game’s familiar mist-shrouded streets. Konami has also confirmed that platinum-selling rock band KORN have created a track especially for the game’s soundtrack, which is perfectly coupled with Dan Licht’s eerie score.


KONAMI will also celebrating the past of the Silent Hill range, with the release of The Silent Hill HD Collection for PlayStation 3, which brings Silent Hill 2 and Silent Hill 3 bang up to date, with all new enhancements and high-definition graphics. The games have been completely reworked, with all-new voice talent, and the addition of PlayStation Network Trophies. The Silent Hill HD Collection will be released in Q4.


Silent Hill: Book of Memories is the first Konami title to be confirmed for the forthcoming PlayStation Vita portable device, and is also the first ever multi-player Silent Hill title. The game will feature an all-new scenario and soundtrack, and links past and present events in the series in one game. Working with a friend, players are left stranded in Silent Hill, where they must work together in order to escape the town and its inhuman denizens.


Silent Hil: Downpour will be released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in Q4, as will The Silent Hill HD Collection for PlayStation 3. No date has been set for Silent Hill: Book of Memories at this point. 

Konami have announced Silent Hill: Book of Memories for the NGP during a pre-E3 conference. Konami also plan to remaster the classic's Silent Hill 2 and 3 in full HD which will become available as a 'Silent Hill Collection' bundle.
