SEGA and Double Fine Productions have today unveiled the latest adventure from the mind of Ron Gilbert: 'The Cave', which will be coming to consoles and PCs for digital download worldwide in early 2013.

The Cave is a 2D puzzle platformer which pits seven disparate characters (an adventurer, a hillbilly, a knight, a monk, a time-traveler, a scientist, and twins) against a mysterious cave. Players can pick a party of three characters and use their unique abilities to solve puzzles by exploiting their unique abilities. The game can be completed with any combination of characters, but certain endings and unique areas are locked to individual characters.

“The concept of The Cave has been bouncing around in my head for many, many years, and then the little voices that tell me to do things said it was time to make the game." added Ron Gilbert. “I I’m thrilled to be working with amazingly talented folks at Double Fine and ecstatic that the team at SEGA believes in adventure games and quirky ideas.”
