Sony has delayed The Order 1886 from its previously planned 2014 launch window to 2015. Ready at Dawn and The Order creative director Ru Weerasuriya told PS Blog: "We have decided to spend some extra time to deliver on the promise we made when we first introduced the game. As such, you can expect The Order: 1886 to come exclusively to the PlayStation 4 in early 2015."

Upcoming PlayStation 4 exclusive The Order: 1886 does not feature multiplayer, its developer has confirmed. Responding to a question on Twitter, Read At Dawn chief technical officer and co-founder Andrea Pessino described The Order as a "single-player, third-person action adventure game". "No multiplayer," he said.

Sony UK MD Fergal Gara has mentioned The Order 1886 as “coming later in the year” matching a previous Autumn release date suggested by tweets between Sony Santa Monica and Ready At Dawn. The previous Autumn release date was inferred from tweets between Sony Santa Monica‘s director of technology Tim Moss and Ready At Dawn‘s founder Andrea Pessino.

At the first tech demo for The Order 1886 at Gamescom today, Ready at Dawn CEO Ru Weerasuriya told VG247 that the game will be a franchise. This came after he stated that the “first game” takes place in post-industrial London. Weerasuriya also said “that it may branch out into other media.”

Ready at Dawn’s upcoming alternate-history PlayStation 4 exclusive The Order: 1886 is already shaping up to be one of the prettiest titles in the next generation platform’s pipeline, but it’s not being constructed by an enormous team. While it’s normal for franchises such as Assassin’s Creed and Call of Duty to command headcounts of up to 500 employees these days, a modest number of around 80 developers are working on the London-set adventure.
