Expanding the studio’s “always playtesting” philosophy, Spearhead Games will open the entire development process up to the community for feedback through weekly Twitch shows airing Thursdays at 7 p.m. Eastern. To make the new project even more of a challenge, the slightly masochistic but mostly lovable co-founders, Malik Boukhira, Simon Darveau and Atul Mehra, have decided to build the game in three months.
“What we accomplished last year was insane,” said Simon Darveau, co-founder at Spearhead Games. “We built a studio and a game in one year. I went from sleeping on Malik’s couch to building an awesome couch co-op game, and in the process we learned way more than we could have imagined.”
He continued, “Taking our experimental findings from Tiny Brains, we decided we want to give the community even more influence in building this new game. Everything will be open. Everything will be tested. Everything will be up for comment. This is the future of video games as we see it. Why not start the future now?”
Spearhead will reveal more about its upcoming title tomorrow, Thursday, March 6th at 7 p.m. Eastern during its weekly Twitch show. For an early look, check out Spearhead’s teaser video below.

A next generation party game, Tiny Brains redefines “co-op” by challenging players to work together as one of four tiny (but super-powered!) lab animals. Thrown into a gauntlet of physics puzzles, the four “Tiny Brains” must combine their unique abilities to make it through a mad scientist’s trick-ridden maze. Featuring a story mode, dozens of time-based and endless challenges, and a few surprises like the competitive “Tiny Soccer” mode, Tiny Brains is the most superhero fun you can have on a miniature scale.
Designed with local co-op as a gold standard, Tiny Brains also features online multiplayer and drop-in/drop-out play for groups tinier than four. Players can swap in between characters to utilize their different powers and levels change dynamically based on how many people are playing. Unique to the PS4, Tiny Brains makes use of the DualShock 4 light bar so that each controller shines the same color as the player’s character. Using the touch pad, players can also bring down a colored arrow to indicate where they require a furry friend’s help.
Tiny Brains will be 10 percent off for PlayStation Plus members through December and free for the PS3 when you buy the PS4 version through a cross-buy promotion. PC gamers can pre-order Tiny Brains on Steam for 30 percent off before December 18 here.

Tiny Brains is a 3D co-op action puzzle game in which up to four players can take the role of tiny (but super-powered) lab animals. Players must work together using complementary physics-based abilities to tackle the tests of a nefarious mad scientist.
“Spearhead is a team of passionate and experienced creators,” said Simon Darveau, co-founder and producer at Spearhead Games and formerly Assassin’s Creed III design director at Ubisoft. “With Tiny Brains, our ambition is to create a super fun and truly cooperative game. So far we are very excited with the results!”
More information about Tiny Brains will be revealed at PAX East in Boston next week. The game will be released later this year as a downloadable title for yet to be confirmed platforms.
