A PR stunt for a new video game saw the bomb squad called to Ninemsn’s offices yesterday afternoon after a black safe was delivered to the Australia Square offices of the publisher along with a “suspicious” letter which told a reporter to “check your voicemail”. However, the reporter did not have a voicemail, and when staff  tried to enter a pin code taped to the top of the safe, which was dropped off by a courier but not signed for, it started to beep but did not open, leading to fears it could be an explosive device.

Watch Dogs will run at 900p on PlayStation 4 and 792p on Xbox One, Ubisoft has confirmed. Both versions will run at 30 frames per second. The PS4 version's performance comes in slightly lower than many had expected, with prior comments from Sony and Ubisoft suggesting that the game would run at full HD 1080p. Sony even went so far as to say that the game would run at 1080p/60fps on PS4, although its comments were later deleted.

Ubisoft Montreal’s Watch Dogs will finally be out in May, culminating in more than six months worth of controversies including a delay and accusations of visual downgrade. It will be worth the wait in terms of visuals at least, as team lead programmer Francis Boivin confirmed that it would use enhanced subpixel morphological anti-aliasing (SMAA) for both the Xbox One and PS4 versions.

The Wii U version of the game showed up recently on Ubisoft's official online store with a Fall 2014 release window, and Ubisoft has confirmed the accuracy of the window for launch.

Ubisoft has released a new video showing off the PC version of open-world action game Watch Dogs. In the video, lead engineer Paul Vlasie discusses how Ubisoft Montreal has worked with graphics company Nvidia to add exclusive features to the PC version of the game.

Watch Dogs will take the average player around 35-40 hours to complete, creative director Jonathan Morin has claimed, with those looking to finish everything expected to take closer to 100 hours. "I would say the average player which does free roam a bit tend to reach the end within 35-40h," Morin told a fan on Twitter. "But doing everything is close 100h."

Reddit user AbleToFail discovered a listing in the Xbox One store for "Watch_Dogs Closed Beta" by looking for clips by game in the Upload app and then navigating to the store.

Ubisoft's Watch Dogs will release on May 27th, the publisher has confirmed. The release date was revealed ahead of schedule via a trailer which leaked on Xbox.com. The highly anticipated open-world game was most recently scheduled for release in spring 2014, after being delayed out of the November 2013 launch window for Xbox One and PS4.

Rumours of Watch Dogs' Wii U cancellation have resurfaced after the game failed to appear on Nintendo's official 2014 release schedule. The platform holder published a revised list of first and third-party titles headed to Wii U last night, following its Q3 2014 briefing – but Watch Dogs remained mysteriously absent.

Ubisoft has declined to comment amidst suggestions that the Wii U version of Watch Dogs has been cancelled. CVG contacted the studio to address the rumour after it was claimed that Italian branches of GameStop have been cancelling pre-orders and informing customers the Wii U version had been scrapped. "We have nothing to comment at the moment," a Ubisoft spokesperson replied.

But, "exclusive" typically means "timed exclusive" in this business, and that happens to be the case here too.
