EA have today followed through on the promise of a free digital copy of Battlefield 1943 for Playstation 3 owners of Battlefield 3, following backlash from fans and a class-action suit which was filed in the United States on behalf of those affected.

First promised back in June at E3 by Sony's Jack Tretton, gamers soon noticed that the free copy of Battlefield 1943 was missing from the launch copy of Battlefield 3, which disgruntled many gamers and recently saw the law firm Edelson McGuire, file a class action suit against EA on behalf of the disgruntled PS3 owners. Alleging that EA "misled and profited from thousands of their customers by making a promise that they could not, and never intended, to keep".

EA have responded by keeping their promise of the free digital copy Battlefield 1943 for PS3 owners of Battlefield 3. In a post of EA's help site, EA wrote "There have been some misunderstandings around Battlefield 1943 and Battlefield 3. To address this we are making Battlefield 1943 available free of charge beginning this month."

Gamers can download the free copy of Battlefield 1943 by grabbing a PlayStation 3 voucher from 1943redemption.battlefield.com, European gamers will be the first to get there hands on the game this November 26th, followed by America from December 10th and finally Japan and Asia on December 17th.
