Electronic Arts is currently offering Battlefield 3 for free on Origin, as part of its 'On The House' promotion. The game is the latest free offering in the publisher's monthly promotion, which has previously offered Dead Space. This month's offerings also includes Plants Vs. Zombies: Game of the Year Edition.

As Battlefield fans are busy enjoying its final piece of DLC Battlefield 3: End Game, it's time to say goodbye to Battlefield 3 with its sequel Battlefield 4 just over the horizon. Matt Cuttle travelled to Stockholm to speak to Executive Producer Patrick Bach, GM Karl-Magnus Troedsson and Creative Director Lars Gustavsson about their time spent creating and refining the franchise.

Battlefield 3: End Game, the fifth and final expansion pack for Battlefield 3, is now available for Premium members on the PlayStation 3, EA has announced. The expansion will be released on other platforms and for non-premium members at a later date:

Battlefield 3: End Game release schedule:
 PlayStation 3  Xbox 360 and PC 
Battlefield 3 Premium members March 5th  March 11th
Battlefield 3 players March 19th March 26th

In Battlefield 3: End Game, gamers battle on four new maps inspired by each of the four seasons, including Kiasar Railroad and Operation Riverside. Gamers can jump in the seat of the speedy new dirt bike and two AA vehicles to get behind enemy lines, or use the new dropship, which can quickly turn the tide in battle by rapidly deploying air drops of troop transports.

In addition to this, gamers will enjoy the return of two classic game modes, Capture the Flag and Air Superiority. In Capture the Flag gamers have to coordinate lightning fast attacks and defenses, while in Air Superiority they take to the sky and engage in massive dog fights.

DICE have today revealed the first details of 'End Game', the fifth downloadable content pack for Battlefield 3, which is due to launch in March, 2013.

The official Battlefield site reveals that Battlefield 3: End Game will include four vast maps, three new lightweight AA vehicles - including a fast and agile dirt bike - , a new dropship, which provides vehicle drop capabilities and the return of the classic 'Capture The Flag' and 'Air Superiority' game modes.

End Game, as the title implies, is the last planned DLC for Battlefield 3. PlayStation 3 Premium subscribers will be the first to get their hands on the DLC, followed by PC and Xbox 360 Premium subscribers a week later. The DLC will then be available for everyone else on the PlayStation 3 and then finally for the PC and Xbox 360.

Battlefield 3: Aftermath, the fourth digital expansion pack for Battlefield 3, is now available for Battlefield 3 Premium members on the PlayStation 3, EA has announced.

Aftermath includes four new maps, three new vehicles and the debut of Scavenger mode – an objective based conquest where players must brave the environment armed with only one sidearm, as they try to find more powerful weapons in an attempt to survive with their squad.

In addition to this, Aftermath delivers a new deadly and versatile crossbow for more silent kills, ten new assignments, dog tags, trophies, achievements and more.

Aftermath will be available for the Xbox 360 and PC Premium members on December 4th. The DLC will then be available for everyone else on the PlayStation 3 on December 11th and then finally for the PC and Xbox 360 on December 18th.

To celebrate the ten year anniversary of the Battlefield series and Battlefield 3 Premium surpassing 2 million members, EA has announced that Battlefield 1942, the game that started it all, is now available to download from Origin for free until March 2013.

“Since the beginning, the reception to the Battlefield series has been incredible thanks to our amazing fans. Every day, we strive to provide our community with great games and new ways to play as evident with Battlefield 3 Premium. We wanted to thank our fans who have supported us throughout the years with a chance to go back and play the game that started it all.” said Karl Magnus Troedsson, Vice President and General Manager of DICE.

"We are truly grateful for our fans and the support you have shown us through the years. Now let’s honor the heritage by once more joining the original Battlefield!"

DICE has today confirmed the launch dates and released a trailer of Battlefield 3: Aftermath, the fourth multiplayer expansion pack for Battlefield 3.

Set in the shattered districts, streets and cities of post-earthquake Iran, Battlefield 3: Aftermath features all the multiplayer game modes from the base game, plus an all-new Scavenger mode. In Scavenger mode, soldiers start equipped with only a knife, one grenade, and sidearm and must search the environment for more powerful weapons to increase their chance at surviving and eventually winning.

In addition to the new game mode, the expansion pack will also contain fours new maps including Epicenter and Markaz Market, some new heavily modified vehicles and the all-new crossbow.

PlayStation 3 Premium subscribers will be the first to get their hands on the DLC on November 27th, followed by PC and Xbox 360 Premium subscribers a week later on December 4th. The DLC will then be available for everyone else on the PlayStation 3 on December 11th and then finally for the PC and Xbox 360 on December 18th.

To celebrate its release for PS3 Premium members today, EA has released a launch trailer of the third expansion pack for Battlefield 3, Armored Kill. The trailer features never before seen gameplay from all four maps in the expansion pack - from the beautiful snow-capped Alborz Mountains to the biggest map in Battlefield history, Bandar Desert.

Armoured Kill will be available for Xbox 360 and PC Premium subscribers next week on September 11th. The DLC will then be available for everyone else on the PlayStation 3 on September 18th and for the PC and Xbox 360 a week later on September 25th.
