With the update gamers can now rent their own Battlefield 3 servers on the PS3 under the new "Rent a server" menu. Having your own server gives you the power to tweak every setting on the server including, what maps and modes you want to play, whether you want to show the mini map or not, turning off the HUD elements and the ability to tweak respawn times and tickets.
Pricing for renting your own server is as followed:
1 day: £1.19 / $1.49
7 days: £5.49 /$6.99
30 days: £19.99 / $24.99
90 days: £47.99 / $64.99
EA have said that the rent a server functionality will be limited today, but it will be ramped up towards maximum capability in about one week’s time.
