In the God of War: Ascension multiplayer mode, players can align themselfs to one of four gods - Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, or Ares - in a battle between Sparta and Troy. Players are able to customize their character with Armor-sets, weapons, specials, perks, Magics, and more.
The multiplayer mode will include a variation of modes with Domination, Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, and Horde being mentioned as possibilities, but it's still being decided which of these modes, or others, will make it into the finished product.
One game mode which has been confirmed is called 'Execution' (seen in the image above). Execution is a 4v4 match in which two teams must battle for control over two gears which shackle the giant cyclops "Polyphemus" with chains. After capturing both of the gears, the Gods award the controlling team the Spear of Olympus, giving them the power needed to dispatch the behemoth. The mode then fluctuates between attack and defend, forcing the controlling team to hold the gears from the opposing team as they attempt to destroy Polyphemus with the Spear. If the opposing team regains control of any of the gears, Polyphemus resets his original position and Zeus takes the Spear away.
Fans will be able to see the multiplayer mode in action in a live stream from today at 8am PDT/ 4pm BST (below). As promised the developers will also be answering questions about the game.
