Since its release in 2007, Team Fortress 2 has seen a lot of change (not only in the hat department). As new weapons with new capabilities were released, some of the older maps started to show some leaks where players could now exploit their way behind enemy lines or otherwise into Wins-ville. As such, Valve are releasing a patch which will - among other things - re-evaluate some of these ‘sploits and bugs in an effort to make the game fair and enjoyable for everyone.

Gamer's charity SpecialEffect are asking the industry and communities to vote for the inclusion of three SpecialEffect Team Fortress 2 items in the game's online store.

If successful, the vote will see the items available online this summer, with 99% of the profits going to help disabled players enjoy games to the best of their abilities. Votes for the items can be registered on Steam.

The idea is the brainchild of James Schall, SEGA's Director of Digital Distribution.

"Demand for SpecialEffect's help is rocketing," said James. "And I'm excited about the potential of these generous artwork donations to kickstart a big-hearted response from the TF2 community to help meet that demand."

The artists, Psyke, Svdl, Twilight Sparkle and Void, have designed a viewfinder, cabinet and belt pack with the charity's branding.

"It's a fantastic gesture," said charity CEO Mick Donegan. "Gamers get what we're trying to do, and to get that support from artists within the community is a real endorsement of our work."

"We need £750k this year to give people a fighting chance through specialised games control equipment. We're bringing this technology directly into the homes and hospitals of the people who need it most, and transforming the lives of people with the most severe disabilities through cutting-edge equipment like eye control and brain control."

We've known for some time now that Valve was working on virtual reality support for its perpetually updated free-to-play shooter, Team Fortress 2.  What we didn't know, however, is that said support is also headed to consumers as "VR Mode," and it'll get pushed to PC Team Fortress 2 players "sometime within the next couple of weeks."

Yellow-bellies beware! Valve are cracking down on the cowards who flee games prematurely, leaving their team-mates in the lurch just to avoid an X in their ledger. The changes affect Mann vs Machine mode only, at the moment, and have been designed so as not to penalise people who get booted by the odd connection issue.
