Based on feedback and lessons learned from launch, update 1.2 brings with it a list of weapon rebalancing and reactivity changes from basic running and reloading to ready time and device recharging time. Part of ongoing improvements all this month, these changes deliver tactical depth and increased responsiveness to help players face-off against even the most seasoned veterans.
These big changes don’t stop at game play, newcomers can progress five times faster with bigger level-up rewards and take home competitive weapons in the first five hours of gameplay. Not only is it easier than ever to earn firepower and settle the score against veteran players, but it is also easier for starting players to learn at their own pace with the newly improved Beginner and Lieutenant’s Playlist. The Playlist allows them to train longer against each other before taking on seasoned veterans.
To celebrate these changes and welcome more friendly faces, Ghost Recon Phantoms has announced a special Steam offer for three days only. Download one free starter bundle every day from July 11th at 6pm UK Time until July 14th at 7.30am UK Time exclusively on Steam to receive up to three starter bundles (£24 value approx). Catching up is quick and easy with a bundle for each of the three classes for free! Play now and play for free at: GhostReconPhantoms.com/

New, fair matchmaking system
Simon Davis, lead designer for Ghost Recon Phantoms at Ubisoft Singapore explained that the team overhauled the previous matchmaking system to create a system that does not only take into account the players’ skills but also their equipment performance when creating teams. This long-awaited change is designed to prevent situations where players are matched unfairly against opponents, resulting in an imbalanced gameplay experience.
ModMaster, a new weapon customization system
Ghost Recon Phantoms will go live with the new ModMaster system and weapon camouflages on April 10th. Current variants will be removed from the store and replaced by a unique fully customisable model of each weapon. “We wanted to find a way for players to differentiate themselves on the battlefield and create weapons that fit their style, so we created ModMaster to put that power in the hands of our players. This new system is also more cost savvy for players and creates more than half a million weapon configuration possibilities including fire rate, handling, scope and ready-time decisions,” explained Davis. Weapon camos will enable players to customize the skins of their weapons. The first 10 weapon camouflages will be available the day of launch and new camouflages will be rolled-out on an ongoing basis.
Better new player experience
To ease new players into the game, the new user playlist has been extended from level five to level eight. Additionally, the first two tiers of weapons will be removed, permitting new users to directly access more powerful weapons to work on their combat skills.
On the Ghost Recon Phantoms forums, Ubisoft also announced that all weapon prices will be significantly reduced.

Following the release of Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Blacklist, Ghost Recon Online players will be able to use the weapons and gear of Splinter Cell lethal operative Sam Fisher to fully customize their in-game character for all three classes. “The spies of Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon Online’s Ghosts can now go toe-to-toe with the Phantoms,” explains Corey Facteau, GRO’s Producer at Ubisoft Singapore.
Also new to Ghost Recon Online, players looking to gift items, including new Splinter Cell gear, will now be able to do so easily in the store. In the same patch, Ghost Recon Online is also revealing a new map:
“Khyber Stronghold is the most ambitious map we’ve developed to date. We’re transporting our players to the Middle East, to a city inspired by Peshawar, Pakistan,” added Facteau. “Our community is more than three million strong, who we work to continuously provide new content for. Our goal is to keep their experience fresh and dynamic so we’re looking forward to seeing how they explore Khyber Stonghold and use Sam Fisher’s items in-game.”

This latest game update brings a host of new content, including the Holdout game mode, the Balaklava Sub Pen map and the Clan Match feature, as well as several game service improvements and fixes. The 0.10.0 update coincides with the release of the new Triton Pack featuring naval-themed avatars, weapons and armour.
Holdout Game Mode
The teamwork, tactics, and strategies of players will be tested in the newest game mode for Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Online. In the Holdout game mode, both teams will contend over a single capture point set in the middle of the map. Take control of the point, and defend it until the round ends to emerge victorious. With shorter round timers, and both teams converging on a single capture point, players can expect fierce and frantic firefights in Holdout.
Balaklava Sub Pen Map
Designed specifically for the new Holdout mode, the Balaklava Sub Pen map is inspired by the formerly classified, underground submarine facility in Ukraine that was operational until 1993.
Symmetrical and compact in design, with only one capture point, the map gives players of all skill levels plenty of opportunities to jump into the fight and start having fun right away. The map offers a lot of depth with multiple strategic areas and approaches to the capture point – whether it be the folding bridge that offers an elevated vantage point, or the tunnel entrances that provide flanking opportunities.
Triton Pack
Complementing the naval theme of the new map is the new Triton Pack. Players will be able to outfit their Ghosts in brand-new helmets and armor vests, equip them with upgraded weapons, and personalize their profile with custom avatars. The Triton Pack will only be available for a limited time throughout the month of January.
Clan Matches
Following up from the introduction of the Clan feature a few months ago (October 2012), which gave players the opportunity to create and join clans, players will now be able set up custom matches against other clans.

In Ghost Recon Commander, players will be able to develop their own “Ghost,” an elite Special Forces operator utilizing stealth, firepower and near-future technology to take command of the battlefield. Ghost Recon Commander also features 10 replayable missions, three difficulty levels and dozens of weapons for players to choose from to help them win their missions.
“We are taking the popular Ghost Recon franchise and bringing it to platforms that allow players of all skill levels to enjoy at their leisure, on the platform of their choosing,” said Chris Early, vice president of digital publishing at Ubisoft. “This is the basis of our companion gaming strategy that Ghost Recon Commander exemplifies so well.”
Ghost Recon Commander can be played as a stand-alone game or played to tie into the overall Ghost Recon universe. Following Ubisoft’s companion gaming strategy, players are encouraged to play the game alongside Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, available on consoles May 25th, and Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Online, available later this year.
By playing Ghost Recon Commander, players will be able to unlock exclusive weapons, weapon skins and bonuses to use while playing Ghost Recon: Future Soldier and Ghost Recon Online. Ghost Recon Commander players can also gain benefits, such as exclusive characters, by playing Ghost Recon: Future Soldier.
